Finding Housing in the Upper Valley
Dartmouth does not offer graduate student housing. The following options are available to graduate students for housing, students should look over these options and choose suitable accommodations before arriving on campus.
Like any college/university town, rental housing in the Hanover area can be hard to find. There is limited graduate student housing, so you must apply early in order to obtain a residence. The Dartmouth Real Estate Office also maintains a list of Upper Valley rental listings.
The newly constructed Summit on Juniper apartments are a popular option amongst graduate students. Fully furnished and located just 10 minutes away in Lebanon, NH, the Summit residential community is connected to campus by an onsite bus/shuttle service. Service approximately every 30 minutes, from Monday - Friday: 7am - 2:30am, and Saturday - Sunday: 9am - 2:30am. All apartments include free high-speed internet access, on-site parking, bike storage, as well as acess to exercise rooms and a fitness studio area.
Sachem Village is another popular option for MALS and graduate students, especially those with families. Offering 255 residences to the Dartmouth community, students may rent a variety of units, from 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments, townhouses, duplexes, and more. Community members may take advantage of several accomodations, such as a neighborhood community center, playgrounds, picnic facilities, tennis and basketball courts, as well as access to hiking, biking and ski trails. The Upper Valley Advance Transit Orange line bus stops at Gould Road (a few minutes walk from Sachem Village) every hour from 6:30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and is free of charge.
Finally, we encourage all incoming students to monitor DartList, the Dartmouth community's commerce site. Check back daily for new apartment/housing listings, subletting opportunities, individual rooms for rent, roommate postings, and more!
