Myrna Frommer

Visiting Professor, Master of Arts in Liberal Studies

Dr. Myrna Katz Frommer received her Ph.D. from New York University. She has taught courses in media, public speaking and rhetoric at CUNY, NYU, Fordham, and St. John's. Her articles on Sephardic history and the current resurgence of Jewish life in Spain and Portugal have appeared in The Forward, Midstream, and Ha'aretz. She has also published in the New York Times, Etc.: The Journal of General Semantics, and The Encyclopedia of Jewish Women.

Together with her husband Dr. Harvey Frommer, Myrna Frommer co-authored the critically acclaimed oral histories: It Happened in Miami, It Happened in the Catskills, It Happened in Brooklyn, Growing Up Jewish in America, It Happened on Broadway and It Happened in Manhattan. She has made extensive use of the oral history genre in her travel writing, in discovering the singular stories focused on global Jewish history and culture.

Additionally, Dr. Frommer is the author of the oral biography Always Up Front, the memoirs of Helen Fried Kirshblum Goldstein.

In 2015, the Frommers were selected to appear at the Miami International Book Fair and the National Press Club, Washington, D.C. Book Fair
