Ethics Requirement

MALS, in collaboration with the School of Graduate and Advanced Studies and the Ethics Institute at Dartmouth, have developed an institution-wide training program in the basics of professional ethics. This program is a requirement for all first-year graduate students.

Completing the Graduate Ethics Survey

To complete the Graduate Ethics Survey:

  • You will receive a message in your Dartmouth email account from Canvas inviting you to join the Graduate Ethics course.
  • Accept the invitation by clicking on the link in the email, which will take you to the Graduate Ethics page.
  • Read the introduction and click on Take the Graduate Ethics Survey. You must answer “yes” to all four questions.
  • If you delete the message before you fill out the survey, don’t worry! The invitation will automatically be resent.

All first year MALS students are required to attend three 1.5 hour Ethics Workshops:

  • Professionalism
  • Academic Integrity
  • Mentorship

One workshop is offered during the fall, winter and spring terms. All three are offered during the summer term. Contact the MALS office for the current schedule.
